Why is the documentary entitled Passionately Loving the World?

The documentary is entitled Passionately Loving the World in memory of St. Josemaria Escriva, who, in 1967, gave a talk by this name at the University of Navarre in Pamplona, Spain, explaining the universal call to holiness.

Who made the DVD?

The DVD was sponsored by Midwest Theological Forum (MTF), a not-for-profit corporation that publishes materials and organizes courses for Catholic bishops, priests, and laity. MTF is located in suburban Woodridge, 30 miles southwest of downtown Chicago. The DVD was produced by the Cresta Group, located in Chicago, Illinois.

Who financed the making of the DVD?

The documentary was financed by the St. Josemaria Institute, a not-for-profit corporation, founded to promote devotion to St. Josemaria Escriva. Nearly half of the expenses of production were paid by the generosity of numerous donors around the world.

What is the purpose of the DVD?

The DVD was made to help spread the message taught by St. Josemaria, founder of Opus Dei, in order to help families in living their Christian vocation and in turning all the circumstances of their lives into occasions of growing closer to God. For this reason, the DVD has been made available on the internet and has been distributed free of cost.

What is the message for families?

  • The basis of the family is the covenant of love that a man and woman enter into in the Sacrament of Matrimony.
  • The union of a husband and wife and the joy of a Christian family are expressed in their children, even when facing difficulties.
  • The primary evangelization of the family is the witness that they give when facing difficulties and in the sanctification of their ordinary circumstances.
  • It shows how the grace of God can transform the home into a bright and cheerful place.

Why was it translated into 20 languages?

Numerous people throughout the world, who have benefitted from living out the message taught of St. Josemaria, requested that the video be translated into their own languages so that they could share the message of St. Josemaria with family and friends. Volunteers through the world generously volunteered their time and talents to translate the video into more than twenty languages.
