In April 2006, the St. Josemaria Institute released the short documentary film, Passionately Loving the World. The film features individuals and families from across the United States who have found inspiration living out the message taught by St. Josemaria. Those interviewed are ordinary people who work hard, love their families, celebrate successes, and endure hardships. Through it all, they try to grow closer to God without leaving the ordinary circumstances of their daily lives. They include a fire fighter in Los Angeles, a salesperson in Houston, a farmer in Illinois, and an entrepreneur in New Jersey, among others.
At the request of numerous people, who are receiving the formation of Opus Dei in various countries around the world, the documentary was translated and subtitled into twenty additional languages.
Viewers of various faiths both in the United States and abroad received the original film warmly, with orders from 47 states and 58 countries. When released in 2006, numerous networks covered the footage of the film including CNN, Nightline News, Good Morning America, and ABC News. Viewers have called it "inspiring," "sincere," and "completely down to earth."
The Saint Josemaria Institute was founded to promote devotion to Saint Josemaria Escriva, knowledge of his writings, and theological reflection on his thought. In particular, the Institute aims to help the public benefit from his teachings on the spiritual meaning of their ordinary duties. The Saint Josemaria Institute is a not-for-profit corporation as defined by IRS Code Section 501(C)(3), which produces and distributes various theological media to interested parties. These media are used as a means to spread the Christian values throughout the world.
